Denver TMAU Test Lab survey click here

USA survey for anyone who wants to improve Denver TMAU test

begun : Dec22
end : no ending for now

A trainee genetic counselor is working at the Denver TMAU test lab. Probably as part of her training. As a project she wishes feedback on any aspect of the Denver TMAU test and process. You can fill in the survey and/or email her (email address is in survey). It's meant for USA people, but perhaps others can give their view too (as we have so few opportunities).

quote from her rareconnect post

"Hello all! I wanted to make you aware of a research study being conducted to better understand the experience and needs of individuals with trimethylaminuria with a goal of being able to create improved patient and healthcare provider education materials. Any participation is completely voluntary and all responses remain confidential. Feel free to use the contact information within the link with any questions or share the survey with others with TMAU."

Telling physician patient's perspective

Golden Girls Episode
Telling physician patient's perspective

Frequently sufferers of uncontrollable breath and/or body odor get this same response from their physician. It is OK if doctors are not familiar with what could be causing this problem because the science is not available, and the patient would accept a sincere and compassionate response. "Compassionate" is the key word.

I'M WONDERERING WHY WE HAVEN'T HEARD BACK FROM ANYONE ON HOW WELL THE RESEARCH ON TRIMETHYLAMINURIA IS GOING, I MEAN, ITS BEEN A WHILE SINCE SOMEONE HAS COME AND UPDATED US ON HOW EVERYTHING IS GOING. DOES IT STILL LOOKING PROMISING, OR DOES IT NOT, I MEAN WE AS SUFFERERS HAS THAT RIGHT TO KNOW WHATS GOING ON WITH THE MONEY THATS HAS BEEN GIVEN FOR THIS RESEARCH. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT ANYONE ELSE, BUT IT WOULD MAKE ME NOT WANT TO DONATE IF THEY CAN'T KEEP US UP TO DATE AND INFORMED..

I'm not sure which research you are asking about. The last I heard trinzyme research was at a stop due to no funding for the next phase of research.

I wish we had more information about the TMAU therapeutic research in London, but the most updated information offered to the public is found on the UK Gateway to Research, provided by Research Councils UK, http://gtr.rcuk.ac.uk/project/772B5BB8-C185-455B-9AE2-C4BC7F8369DF

It states on the right hand column that this research was funded £360,684 from August 2013 through April 2016. The project is still active, but we have not heard of any additional funding. Hopefully, they will get some soon.
