Leaky gut (intestinal permeability) urine test can be bought online for around $90

Leaky gut is an unknown factor in bloodborne/metabolic body odor/halitosis. For those who wish to test, it is reasonably cheap and straightforward to test (it is a urine test), and sellers of the test are available online.

There are 2 types of the test, the PEG test, and the lactulose-mannitol test (the most common type of test). There are a few reputable test companies who do the test. If you do the test, it would be great if you could let the body odor/halitosis community know in some way, so that we may be able to see patterns and define a typical profile of a sufferer. Also, it would be helpful to learn of any procedure problems. Perhaps it is cheaper elsewhere.

When they say leaky 'gut, It seems they mean leaky small intestine. The cells lining the small intestine are supposed to use glutamine for growth, whereas the colon cells are thought to grow on butyrate.

Note: These tests also test for malabsorption (i.e. not enough absorption). you can have both malabsorption and leaky gut. Leaky gut is due to gaps between the cells, whereas absorption is direct through the cell and may be interfered with for some reason.
