USA survey for anyone who wants to improve Denver TMAU test

begun : Dec22
end : no ending for now

A trainee genetic counselor is working at the Denver TMAU test lab. Probably as part of her training. As a project she wishes feedback on any aspect of the Denver TMAU test and process. You can fill in the survey and/or email her (email address is in survey). It's meant for USA people, but perhaps others can give their view too (as we have so few opportunities).

quote from her rareconnect post

"Hello all! I wanted to make you aware of a research study being conducted to better understand the experience and needs of individuals with trimethylaminuria with a goal of being able to create improved patient and healthcare provider education materials. Any participation is completely voluntary and all responses remain confidential. Feel free to use the contact information within the link with any questions or share the survey with others with TMAU."

Sunday Conference 26th Oct - TOPIC: "Our future site"

Arun invites us to tomorrow's conference call in a post in MSN Body Odor Support Forum. He would like to discuss the new site, so please do join us tomorrow and bring your ideas.

Here's a copy of Arun's post:

Guys, do please try to make this Sunday's Phone Conference where we will be talking about THE MOVE TO OUR NEW SITE.

1 This will be an exciting transition for me as I personally never liked the limitations of this MSN site. For instance, surely one of the most important features of a Health-related site such as ours is the utility of a Message Search facility. The only way to search past messages on this site is to go to an external search engine such as Google!! Can you believe that no such facility exists on this site! It's completely appauling!!!!

2 Also, my ability to carry out research-related activities on this site was severely curtailed by the total absence of a Database facility! Let me make it plain - if there is no database there can be no proper research and there can be no logically discussed Protocol for Treatment. I am not interested in inventing such a protocol from the top of my head. This has to come from the sum of all your experiences!!

3 Thirdly, should we really need to organise phone conferences from outside our Group site? Surely this feature should be built into the Group site!

4 Fourthly, some of you have amazing talents - Kristen, Sheri and others should be able to put their songs and videos DIRECTLY on our Message board board (these are large file sizes and MSN gives us a tiny limit which is not big enough for a song). Instead, they have had to post their links from YouTube etc.

OK, my list of personal gripes with MSN goes on and on but I am nevertheless thankful that this site has brought several hundred of us together. However, I am now looking VERY CAREFULLY at the possible contenders for our future site. What I have found is that the paid sites will allow you to have space for movies, songs etc. However, I firmly believe that our future site MUST be a free one otherwise it will never succeed.

As some of you know, I have had a very busy time at work this past month and have not been able to post messages or deal with emails much this past month. Well, I have dealt with all my work and you will see me posting quite often from now and getting my emails too.

A few of you will know that every winter I go travelling around Asia from mid-December till mid April. I have all the time in the world free then and my day's thoughts are all about what I am going to post on the message board that day. However, whilst travelling in Asia, the timing of the Sunday Phone Conference is not convenient for me or for anyone in Asia or Australia. Hence I am proposing an ADDITIONAL conference on Saturdays (the day before the Sunday conference) and would like to hear back what times are good for you guys.

Also, I have told you of my personal gripes with the MSN site. What about yours? Are there any particular features you guys want in our future site that I haven't already mentioned. If so, please speak now!

Although many of you here are relative newbies on this site, a few of us 'old-timers' reflect on the history of this board from time to time. For instance, did you know that we were originally part of the Hyperhidrosis Board (means Excessive Sweating). That's right! We had to share our site with people who often didn't have odour issues and didn't understand how we felt emotionally!

This site has had a variety of managers - Shellie, Asad, Lisa, etc etc. Before we leave this site I would like to take a trip down memory lane and hear from some of you old-timers out there. Anyway, I will post this under a different thread called 'Memory Lane for the MSN old-timers'.
