Message from Arun Nagrath about the future of the MSN Body Odor Support Group

Intro: Arun is the manager of the MSN Body Odor Support Group, to which this blog is closely affiliated. MSN is closing down it's MSN Groups messageboards in February, and Arun is looking to find the best alternative. The default alternative is 'MSN Multiply', which Arun has already started setting up. If anyone has any advice or alternative suggestions for a 'group home', feel free to contact him or post it on the MSN Group board. Especially if you have technical knowledge about websites, including any unforseen implications (such as default settings that are inappropriate on private sites and damage confidence).

Guys, as you know, a few of the managers here (including myself) are looking at possible contenders for a future site when MSN closes this group down in February 2009. I just wanted to let you know that I am on top of the situation. I have contacted MSN and today they made me Manager of the MSN site so that I can begin the process of migrating this site to one that MSN also run called MULTIPLY.

All the contents of MSN BodyOdorSupport will get copied over to the new MULTIPLY site by early next week so that we can evaluate the site to see if we like it. If we like it then that's great, problem solved! If we don't like it, well we don't need to persue it. Our MSN site will still be here until February and we can backup the files somewhere so they aren't lost forever. MSN are only making a COPY of our site onto Multiply, the MSN site won't get deleted immediately at the same time. That will happen in February.

Since I am migrating the site I will be the Administrator of the new site (if we decide to go with MULTIPLY). I plan to retain ALL the managers but also to include Sharon from the Yahoo Trimethylaminuria Group since she has strengths in that department. So, the Managers will be Maria, Cabel, Ben and Sharon. Sharon will help me with some Administrator activities in the first month (copying files, creating tabs, adding videos etc) then will revert to Manager status. We also plan to appoint one or two Assistant Managers but that will be decided after a Management Board Meeting tagged to a phone conference.

Within the next few days you will get invitations to the new Multiply site! Please join and take your time checking it out. The message board on MULTIPLY is not called message board it is called Blogs or Notes (2 message boards). If there are any IT people or Techies amongst you please let us know and help us with our questions if you can.

We don't have to use one site for everything but can have tabs or links which take us to another Group site where we have a database or even to other members personal blogs/websites. So everything can be interlinked anyway.
