Nigel Manning retires
Sheffield Children's Hospital in the UK has for around 20 years been one of the few TMAU urine test labs in the world, due to the endeavor of lead Metabolic Clinical Scientist in their lab, Nigel Manning
Nigel for a long-time has been a friend to the community and MEBO. It was Nigel who set up the testing process for the TMAU urine test at Sheffield on his own initiative. An interview he kindly gave to this blog a few years ago can be read here : Interview with Nigel Manning
Today Sheffield also tests the FMO3 gene as a DNA test, one of the few clinical hospitals to do so in the world.
Our community and MEBO thank Nigel for all his help to our community and to MEBO. You could say he was a pioneer in enabling TMAU testing. Someday the TMAU test will likely be done at every metabolic testing lab in every 'metabolic testing' hospital worldwide, but today it is still only a handful.
New 'TMAU urine test' overseer at Sheffield : Joanne Croft
Happily the tradition of TMAU urine testing at Sheffield will continue under the instruction of the new Metabolic Lead Clinical Scientist : Joanne Croft.
We welcome Joanne to 'our world' and thank Sheffield for keeping up the TMAU testing tradition
