Just Yesterday a sufferer in Mexico said she has to do a thesis for her Master's in Science degree, and wants to do it on TMAU. She asked me for information. I really believe that MEBO should support sufferers who are students, especially when they want to focus their studies on the medical causes and treatment of breath and body odor conditions. So, I spent most of the day researching college level info and giving her experts' information so that she may contact them, if she wants.
I think I'll share the info with this group as well. The first part is in Spanish, since she is doing her thesis in Spanish, and the 2nd part is in English.

Links to discussion of the effects of DMB on choline, l-carnitine, and lecithin ingestion –> TMA production by gut bacteria –> TMAO production by FMO3 metabolic enzyme in the liver.

These articles to be saying is that experts' research indicates that taking DMB, especially with a low choline diet, decreases TMA levels and increases choline levels in the body, and thus may not cause nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Instead of decreasing the amount of choline that goes to the liver, it helps protect the choline from the gut bacteria would have normally consumed to produce odorous TMA. DMB actually prevents the bacteria from consuming choline, so the choline goes to the bloodstream to the liver. DMB also prevents the bacteria from producing TMA. It's a win-win situation, but only for sufferers who do have TMA producing bacteria in the gut.
For sufferers who don't have TMA producing bacteria in the gut, DMB won't really have much effect. These sufferers really need for the MEBO Metabolomic Profiling research project to give more answers on other causes of odor conditions. However, a very strict low choline diet is definitely a danger to TMAU sufferers and non-TMAU sufferers for developing nonalcoholic fatty liver. We do need to keep in mind that there may also be other causes of nonalcoholic fatty liver, such as medication and diet.
That’s exactly what its implying, especially vital for TMAU sufferers with bacterial overgrowth problems, the vast majority of the choline being converted to TMA not leaving much at all by the time it gets to your liver leaving very little choline to decongest the fat in our livers, along with our reduced choline intake its quite worrying what impacts this has on our livers.
That along with the mental health benefits from choline which I’ve always been worried about, too many TMAU sufferers are subjected to mental health problems because of the nature of the illness, the reduced choline levels very much amplify this. See here:

Information on Choline, as an essential nutrient.
http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/mic/other-nutrients/choline
Sufferers of TMAU need to go on a low choline diet in order to control their odor symptoms. However, it can be very dangerous to one's health because choline is an essential nutrietn. Low choline diet can cause non-alcoholic fatty liver and increased anxiety and depression. It causes severe neurological abnormal development in fetuses.
