Boxer Beetle : Fictional book with trimethylaminuria character

With trimethylaminuria at this stage in it's public recognition, any publicity is helpful to raise awareness; including fictional literature. So it is interesting to note a book has just been released in the UK which includes a leading character who has genetic TMAU. The book seems to be a 'pulp fiction' type novel.

This is the first book by the English author, 24 year old Ned Beauman, and seems to have received good reviews so far. The book was released a few days ago and is only currently available in the UK in hardback.

He sets about discovering what connects the corpse and the letter. His efforts to do this are hampered by a Welsh hitman and Broom’s own bad health. He [Broom] suffers from trimethylaminuria (the cause for his nickname Fishy), asthma, eczema, cystic acne, irritable bowel syndrome.

This makes him an unlikely adventurer-hero but he does a creditable job while the toxicity of his urine and his bodily stench even come in handy... Daily Express : Boxer Beetle review
