Egg White powder has almost no choline
Those who feel that trimethylaminuria is their only problem and fully explains their metabolic body odor condition are very likely to try the 'low choline' diet as the main part of their 'trimethylamine control' program. Probably the major problem with this diet is finding a source of protein, since most sources (soya, meat, eggs, legumes etc) seem to have a lot or quite a lot of choline content. Most people following the diet are aware that whole eggs are one of the richest sources of choline in the diet, however it is the yolk that is rich in choline (680mg/100g). The egg white has almost none (1.1.mg/100g). as it happens, pure egg white protein powder is also one type of protein that body builders may choose as a source of extra protein for themselves, so egg white protein powder is quite readily available.
As MEBO gets commission through purchases bought through it's links
at no conditional cost to you, we searched Amazon for the best price for a decent sized container of pure egg white protein powder. So far this looks to be the best value we can find for USA. If anyone sees a better value tub on Amazon they can inform us if they wish. Let us know what you think.
So, for those wishing to make sure they get enough protein on a strict 'low choline' diet, you are welcome to purchase this or any other brand on Amazon through our link
at no additional cost. As long as you go through any of our Amazon links to buy anything, MEBO will get commission.
Note about 'low choline diet' : It has been demonstrated that mice fed a low choline diet developed 'reversible fatty liver' and this is thought to be the same possible outcome for humans, therefore a 'no choline' diet has it's risks. For those who feel TMAU is their only problem, It's probably best to try for a diet that is 'low choline' rather than none.
Pubmed abstract on low choline and fatty liver
For your information,
Suggested RDA for choline in humans is currently
Adult Male : 550mg
Adult female : 420mg
It is also suggested that those on the low choline diet take extra folic acid (folate) to replace the choline's role as a 'methyl donor' as much as possible.
